Technology has proven that it is possible, but the amount of energy it would take is probably enormous. If we could also find ways to ensure that you would arrive to the next place in one peice, this would make teleportation even more probable. Remember, nothing is impossible, somethings are just not very probable.

It's possible that the potential and kinetic energy of the teleported object would be exactly the same as it was before teleportation. So while such a process would seem to involve a vast amount of energy, there's no law of physics that says it couldn't be made much more efficient.

The Heisenberg uncertainty principle, well, that may be a higher hurdle. But again, maybe there's a way to increase "efficiency" - in this case, by trying not to learn very much about the object being teleported.

If you really take it into consideration, we already have such a thing as teleportation, and most people use it every day, they just don't think about it in the sense that it is teleportation. I believe that simple e-mail, text, skype, and speaking over the phone is a form of teleportation, just not physically. With these, sound and images are transported (teleported) across cyberspace almost instantaniously. If we could figure out the tecnology, we could extend this range to more physical objects, such a package that you would normally send air/land mail, or pherhaps, after the tecnology becomes more advanced, people? You would no longer have to sit through ten hour long plane rides, you could simply be "zapped" and arrive at your destination in a matter of a few minutes, or, maybe seconds? Of course this has its problems, you always run the risk of losing part of yourself during the translation in cyberspace. You could literally land at your destination without an arm or other vital limb, or something could get messed up and you and another person could be morphed together, or you and another person's pathways could get mixed up and you could land somewhere compleatly different than where you were planning (but this could lead to an exciting and unexpected adveture).
