SF/F/H preferences:

I love a good scare. If I believe that what I’m reading can really happen, then I’m hooked, which is why psychological and medical thrillers are my favorite. Thomas Harris’s Hannibal series scares me because I know that Hannibal might in fact be based on a real serial murderer. I also love Stephen King’s writing because it is so grounded in reality that I can suspend disbelief.

Until a few years ago I wrote only educational nonfiction. Then, I had an epiphany ... I can also turn my imaginings into fiction. Wow. I am just beginning to learn the art of writing fiction. I enjoy writing science fiction and historical fantasy more than any other genres because of the necessary research, which I love almost as much as writing.

My favorite authors include Thomas Harris, Stephen King, Michael Crichton, Tess Gerritsen, John Sandford, David Baldacci, Kathy Reichs and Michael Palmer.

Publications, if any:

I have only one publication in the SF, F, H genre: a ghost story in a small press that is now defunct. I hope that critters can help me expand this list.

Anything else you think would interest other members:

A former science teacher, I currently develop educational science tests for several state departments of education. Which means I get to do one of the things I love: science research.

I enjoy playing chess and cards, cooking, and tasting wine. So it’s no surprise that after I met the wine critic, writer and poet Harry Calhoun, I married him and intend to live happily every after. It is also fortunate that I also enjoy walking, working out and swimming or all that eating and drinking could be a bad thing.
